The DawgWood Creations Story

As a kid growing up in Athens, Ga (yep, that’s the Dawg) I used to enjoy watching/helping my dad in his basement workshop. My father had a table saw, but everything else was hand tools. A table saw was the only thing that plugged in. No electric drill, sander or circular saw, just manual craftsmanship. From that, I learned how to build things. I saw first hand how joints are put together and how important creativity is in shaping the wood into something beautiful.

We had many bird houses hanging from the gorgeous dogwood tree (hint, hint) in the front yard. Most of our picture frames were hand made and contained some kind of artistic woodwork my dad had created.

Life, college and a full-time job got in the way of me picking up the passion to make like my dad did – but it was always there. Once I picked up woodworking as a hobby, I was hooked. It put a skip in my step and had me gobbling up every bit of information I could find on the topic. Once I started creating my work, not from plans or an internet video, but what was in my head – I realized I may have a business and a wonderful outlet to share.

The positive feedback from family, friends and others that saw my work encouraged me to do this full time. DawgWood Creations was born. Thanks for reading my story and I appreciate the opportunity to share my designs with you.
